More About Me: Background and Approach to Designing Learning Experiences

Problem Solving: One of my greatest strengths is coming up with creative ways to solve problems. In my experience, thinking outside the box leads to innovative and progressive solutions.

Collaboration: I thoroughly enjoy collaborating with team members, Subject Matter Experts, and stakeholders. Collaboration builds great working relationships and fosters productivity. What I value most of all about collaboration is feedback, which I use to improve my work.

Visual Design: My passion for art and design led me to pursue and earn a Master of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art. I was fascinated by the technical and procedural methods of printmaking, which is what I studied for my MFA program at Louisiana State University. The love of process and iteration is also what attracted me to instructional design, and inspires me to create visually compelling learning experiences that are polished and professional.

Strategy: Strategy is at the core of my work process as a learning experience designer. I use strategy when I analyze data to determine learning needs and design instructional plans that meet learning objectives. Strategic thinking also allows me to take initiative and anticipate the needs of learners, stakeholders, and organizations.

Learning: I’m always looking for opportunities to learn something new, whether it’s signing up for a workshop, watching a documentary, or having a stimulating conversation. I’m energized by the process of learning and thrive on challenges.

Training/Facilitation: In addition to my MFA in Studio Art, I have a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education. I have over 15 years experience creating and facilitating engaging and impactful learning experiences for diverse age groups, including K-12 learners, undergraduate students, and multigenerational professionals. By keeping the educational experiences focussed on the learner and learner achievement, I excel at helping others develop their skills and talents.
